A.  The Michigan Employment Relations Commission


Picture MERC      The Michigan Employment Relations Commission (MERC) is Michigan's version of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).  MERC's main responsiblity is to administer the Public Employment Relations Act (PERA).  The commission has three members. The chair is Christine Derdarian, and the two members are Nino Green and Eugene Lumberg.

MERC resolves labor disputes involving public and private sector employees by appointing mediators, arbitrators and fact finders, conducting union representation elections, determining appropriate bargaining units, and adjudicating unfair labor practice cases.
