October 27, 4:00 – 5:00 pm – Distinguished Lecture, Room 253 LMH
Presentation: "Tools for Managing Our Planet's Cultural Resources"
Abstract: The material culture of our past, from the Middle Woodland village occupation, the multi-bermed enclosures of a 1840's lumber camp, or the one depression farmstead from the late 19th Century with a lilac bush growing next to it, all have a story to tell but often such places (and the material remains associated with them) are destroyed or damaged by modern human activity. As cultural resource managers scramble to excavate and collect data from threatened sites locally as well as around the world and having limited time and financial resources, I realized there was something I could do to help. I started a company that would help to speed up the archaeological excavation and data collecting process utilizing specific tools to assist in such endeavors.

October 28, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, Distinguished Alumni-in-Residence Luncheon, Alumni House, with guests Cindi Schindlbeck, Janet Brashler and Russ Rhoads
