Our 2015-16 Varsity Challenge is off to a great start with Men's Basketball currently leading the race, and Men's Baseball, Tennis and Women's Tennis trailing right behind. The Varsity Challenge is a friendly year-long competition amongst our varsity teams former student athletes. Coaches and staff work hard all year long encouraging the former athletes from their respective sport to make a financial contribution to their program. At the end of the year, the sport with the highest participation in giving and the highest participation increase over last year will be awarded $1,000 to their program. We would like to encourage all first-time donors to do so by December 31 and take advantage of our 2 to 1 university match for any gift up to $500. For example, a gift of $50 would become $150. Make your gift online today at: www.gvsu.edu/alumni/varsitychallenge.
Thanks to you – GVSU continues to be the leading Division II program in athletics in the country. The Laker Athletics program just captured our 10th Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup, which is the national all sports trophy. More importantly, 68% of our student-athletes achieved a 3.0 GPA or better for the winter semester. Your GVSU Lakers are performing at a high level in the classroom as well as in their competition. Thank you again for your continued support!
