Upon earning both his Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of New Mexico, John Annulis, ’66 began his career in education as an assistant professor at the University of Arkansas-Monticello in 1972. In 1979, he became head of the Department of Mathematics and dean of the College of General Studies in 1993. Annulis also served as associate vice chancellor for academic affairs from 1994 to 1997.
During his career, Annulis has been published in numerous journals across the country and in Europe in such journals as M.A.A. Monthly Mathematics Magazine, the Journal of Recreational Mathematics, and the Journal of the London Mathematics Society. In addition to numerous lectures in Arkansas, Annulis has also presented his research in Las Vegas and Washington D.C.
Annulis has served as the founder and director of the UAM School of Mathematics Contest, director for the Summer Institute for Mathematics, and a reviewer of Instructional Modules for Undergraduate Mathematics and its Applications.
He currently enjoys his retirement in Monticello, Arkansas.
