James Davidson, '74
James Davidson, ’74 graduated from Grand Valley State University with
a B.A. in philosophy and continued his education at Yale University
where he would earn his M.A. in religious studies and philosophy in
1976. His education at Yale focused on Asian religions as well as the
philosophy of religion. The same year, he accepted a teaching position
at Choate Rosemary Hall where he helped to build the curriculum in the
areas of philosophy, ethics, and religion. He has since been promoted
to head of the department of philosophy as well as the department of
behavior and ethics.
His recognition includes a fellowship
in Asian studies with the National Endowment for the Humanities and
Coach of the Year for Southern Connecticut basketball team. He has
also held the position of President of the New England Prep School
Track and Cross Country Association and been elected to numerous
educational committees.
Davidson has travelled to Japan and
is the author of the textbook Introduction to Ethics. He and wife,
fellow Distinguished Alumna Charlotte Davidson, ’74 currently reside
in Wallingford, Connecticut.
