Cinda Sue Davis, '70
Director of the University of Michigan’s Women in Science and Engineering Program Cinda Sue Davis, ’70, has been the recipient of numerous honors. In the late 80s, her work began to focus on women and girls in the sciences. She received grants for projects such as the Summer Internship Program in the Sciences for High School Women, Girls and Science and Technology 4, and Summerscience for Girls. Since then, Davis has been awarded the Maria Mitchell Women in Science Award, Woman of Distinction Award, and Women in Engineering Programs & Advocates Network Founders Award just to name a few.
Davis has held numerous committee seats in her professional life and
currently serves on the University of Michigan’s NASA Space Grant
Advisory Committee, College of Engineering Undergraduate Management
Team, and Diversity and Outreach Committee. She has been board member,
Vice-President, and President-Elect of Women in Engineering Programs
& Advocates Network (WEPAN). She is also a published author and
public speaker. Her lectures and presentations have been heard state
and nationwide.
After graduating with high honors from Grand
Valley State University, Davis continued her education and earned her
master’s and PhD from the University of Michigan. She currently calls
Ann Arbor her home.
