College of Education Alumni returned to campus to share their expertise with aspiring education students during the “Creating a Classroom for the 21st Century Learner” roundtable held on September 28.

On September 8, GVSU alumni in London gathered at the Parcel Yard to hear the latest developments regarding the university from GVSU Alumni Director, Chris Barbee. It was an evening of networking, socializing, and Laker pride!
Nearly 150 alumni and friends of the university came out to the 10th annual Freshmen Move-In volunteer event! Students and families were delighted to be greeted by alumni volunteers as they arrived on campus.
Grand Valley celebrated 30 years of the engineering co-op program with a reception at the Eberhard Center in Grand Rapids. Students were able to share their creative solutions for leading companies, while alumni learned about the next generation of engineering talent. The night celebrated the collaboration and partnership that has led to three decades of successful Grand Valley engineering alum.
On July 27, 2016, over 100 incoming GVSU student and their families gathered at Jaycee Park in Troy. There were smiles all around as guests enjoyed a picnic dinner and time to network with other students and families. It was a fun-filled summer night, and the rain managed to hold off until the festivities were over!
On July 25, 2016, over 100 incoming GVSU students and their families attended a picnic at Rotary Park in Livonia. It was a beautiful summer night where students connected with their peers while their family members spent time with various GVSU staff members.
Incoming GVSU students and their families gathered on July 26, 2016, on Belle Isle. Everyone enjoyed a lovely evening with a great picnic dinner, overlooking the water. After the meal, students were put into small groups, led by upperclass GVSU students, to talk about their upcoming transition to college, and families had the opportunity to engage with GVSU staff.
The GVSU Alumni Association hosted its annual outing on July 16 at the Meadows Golf Course. Alumni golfers traveled from near and far to participate in the friendly scramble which drew 116 participants.
After the day on the links, volunteers and participants headed over to the Main Street Pub for dinner and the awards program. The outing raised more than $10,000 for GVSU Pathway Scholarships. This fund assists students from middle income families that don't qualify for federal need-based aid and are ineligible for government programs. By supporting these students' educations, we can widen the pathway to graduation, helping them achieve their goals.
The third annual Jamie Hosford Memorial golf outing took place at Boulder Creek Golf Club on July 15th. This year there were 36 teams and over sixty guests celebrating the life and legacy of Jamie Hosford. The outing generated nearly $30,0000 for Jamie's scholarship.
