The College of Education Alumni Association welcomed 45 students to its “Creating a Classroom for the 21st Century Learner” roundtable on March 22. Grand Valley education alumni professionals lead various roundtable sessions and provided insight into elementary and secondary environments.
On Friday, February 26, 150 GVSU alumni gathered to cheer on the Grand Rapids Griffins and support the WestSide Collaborative. Together, attendees donated over 130 snacks, school supplies, and cold weather gear to be distributed to our West Side neighbors in need.
On Tuesday, February 22, 85 alumni who are also faculty/staff at GVSU met at Trail Point Brewing Company in Allendale to enjoy each other's company and learn about the annual faculty staff campaign. The evening brought in $2,288 to the university. Thank you to all who attended!
The College of Education Alumni Chapter hosted a Cover Letter and Resume roundtable for College of Education students. Students were able to network and learn best practices when it comes to preparing cover letters and resumes from the 10 alumni administrators.
Over 60 alumni gathered together to cheer on the Detroit Pistons as they took on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Over 900 athletes competed at the Mike Lints Track Meet. The event acted as a reunion for cross-country and track and field alumni. 75 alumni brought along their families, bringing the reunion to 130 Lakers. The day was filled with relays, a family fun run, food donated by Menna's Joint, and plenty of old track stories.
It was a day for honoring and celebrating. Seventy people gathered in the Fieldhouse to celebrate the achievements of Doug "Doc" Woods, Courtney Jones, '14, and Kim Hansen, '80. Megan Morse, the second recipient to receive the Boand & Rowe Endowment for Advancement of Women in Sports & Physical Activity, was honored along with the 2005-2006 National Championship Women's Basketball Team, who was celebrating its 10 year anniversary.
