Study Abroad alumni enjoyed a great time of sharing experiences at the Global Laker Gala on September 3 at the Grand Valley State University Detroit Center. Attendees reunited in the Motor City to celebrate their time overseas as students and also helped support the Murray Study Abroad Scholarship.
Although dark skies threatened the alumni at the Traverse City Beach Bums Baseball game early on, the clouds rolled away leaving a rainbow and happy Lakers to enjoy the game. With over 30 alumni, faculty, and staff and their families present, the Beach Bums had plenty of cheerleaders throughout the evening!

On Wednesday, July 15 Metro Detroit GVSU Alumni headed to the Detroit Zoo for a night of music, friends, and fun. Over 30 alums came to enjoy an evening at the zoo and hear the music of Starfarm. The weather was perfect, raffle prizes were handed out by club leaders, and Grand Valley was well represented— who could ask for a better night?
The GVSU Alumni Association hosted its annual outing on July 18 at the Meadows Golf Course. Alumni golfers traveled from as far as Seattle, Milwaukee and Detroit to participate in the friendly scramble which hosted a record number of people in the last ten years with 131 participants.
After the day on the links, volunteers and participants headed over to the Main Street Pub for dinner and the awards program. The outing raised more than $9,000 for the GVSU Career Center Internship Award in an effort to help offset the costs of working in unpaid internships. The Career Center provides ten $500 scholarships to students during the fall, winter and spring/summer semesters.

The annual Football Alumni Golf Outing weekend commenced June 26, 2015 with a reception at the B.O.B. where nearly 100 former football players and their guests in attendance for a reunion. The weekend continued on Saturday the 27th with the annual golf outing at the Meadows which celebrated the memory of Dick Nelson, the voice of Laker football, who passed away this year. Football alumni made a collective donation and presented the check to the Nelson family in the amount of $1,500 to the Dick Nelson Broadcasting Endowment Fund.

The reunion weekend for 2016 is set for June 24 and 25.
40 alumni, faculty and staff and friends of the university reunited at the National Athletic Trainers Association Conference in St. Louis from June 24-26.
