Did you know your IRA, 401(k), or other retirement account can help tomorrow’s Lakers and give you a place in Grand Valley's Gillett Society? The Gillett Society, named in honor of Richard M. Gillett, is dedicated to recognizing those who have included Grand Valley in their will or estate plan, and more alumni are joining than ever before. It’s easy to add GVSU as a beneficiary of your retirement account and even a small percentage will make a big difference! Here’s how you can help:
- Change your beneficiary designation by logging into your account online, contacting your employer’s human resources department, or contacting your account broker/administrator.
- Decide what percentage to direct for loved ones and what to direct for GVSU in the future. Remember even 5% or 10% for GVSU will grow over time and make a BIG difference for tomorrow’s Lakers.
- Add GVSU as a beneficiary, just as you would an individual:
Grand Valley State University
Tax ID# 38-1684280 (enter under Social Security #)
1 Campus Drive, Allendale, Michigan 49401
- Finally—and importantly—notify Gina in University Development’s Office of Endowed and Planned Giving. She will record your gift and welcome you into the Gillett Society, where you will set an example for other alumni who aspire to make a difference for future Lakers!
Because every gift should be tailored to your needs, and state laws vary, we recommend that you consult your legal, tax, and/or financial advisors before finalizing your plans.
