Stop in to the Alumni House for some coffee, soda, or water, information about the Alumni Association and upcoming events, and to sign up for an Alumni Association membership card. Get a campus map and a schedule of events for the Homecoming activities.

Charles H. Irwin Athletic Fund Dinner and Laker Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Presented by PNC Bank
5:45 p.m. Reception, 7:00 p.m. Dinner, Grand River Room, Kirkhof Center
Attend the 36th Annual GVSU Charles H. Irwin Club Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony. Tickets are $40 for adults, $20 for GVSU students, and $15 for children (17 and under). Register online by October 7, 2016. Questions? Call Athletics at (616) 331-8800. 

Celebrating the Magic of the Women's Center
6:00 p.m., The B.O.B., Grand Rapids
Celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Women’s Center. We cannot wait to see alumni, faculty members, staff members, and students to remember all of the impact made toward gender justice on campus and within the community. Ticket cost is $15 per person and includes hearty appetizers, one drink ticket, and entrance into The B.O.B. venue where you can relax, meet up with old friends, and remember the magic of the Grand Valley State University Women’s Center! Each year we invite alums to share their talents in Seidman classrooms or clubs. We highlight this event during Homecoming week (October 9-15, 2016), however, we do encourage this activity throughout the academic year! If you have an interest in exploring the opportunity to share your experience, knowledge, or wisdom in your area of expertise, please let us know and we will help determine if a spot is available. Bus to Allendale
9:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m., Novi Town Center
Don't worry about gas prices - leave the driving to us! Catch the GVSU bus headed to Allendale from the metro-Detroit area. The bus will leave the Novi Town Center at 9:30 a.m. and should return to the pick-up/drop-off location around 10:30 p.m. The $30 price for adults, and $15 for children 4-12 years old, includes transportation expenses, a Laker football ticket with reserved section seating, souvenirs, and admission and food at the Alumni Tailgate. Homecoming 5k Run/Walk
10:00 a.m., Kelly Family Sports Center
The Laker Homecoming 5K run/walk course is a flat, fast course that will show off the beauty of the Grand Valley Campus in the fall season. The course starts just outside of the Kelly Family Sports Center and heads out toward Laker Village before turning back north and entering the main part of campus. Runners will wind around the freshman living centers before heading to the Kelly Family Sports Center. This event is for all ages, so bring the family for kids’ activities, inflatables, and a Kids Fun Run all taking place inside the Kelly Family Sports Center from 10:00 a.m.-Noon. The Kids Fun Run will begin at 11:00 a.m. We will also have volunteers from our Children's Enrichment Center on hand to watch your children while you run! All-you-can-eat breakfast is included in your race registration. Participants and spectators can park for free in Lot D4-D8 and Lot H. Shower facilities will be available. Race proceeds benefit the GVSU Cross Country and Track & Field programs. Learn more and sign up here: RunSignUp.

All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast
10:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m., Kelly Family Sports Center
Fill up after the 5K or come out to get an early start on Homecoming day. Breakfast is included with your 5K race entry. Individuals not participating in the 5K may also enjoy all-you-can-eat breakfast burritos, sausage, coffee, and juice in the Kelly Family Sports Center. Pricing is just $10 for adults and children 13 and older, $5 for children 4-12 years old. Children 3 and under are free! Register online.

Exploring the Magic of the Barbara Kindschi Greenhouse
10:00 a.m-Noon, 2241 Kindschi Hall of Science
Experience the enchantment of the natural world by visiting the new state-of-the-art greenhouse located on the second floor of the Kindschi Hall of Science. Be amazed at the 3,000-square-foot greenhouse filled with a permanent collection of Arid, Tropical, and Temperate plants. Witness science in action by evaluating student research projects. The first 50 visitors will receive a free plant! 

Remembering Laker Magic at the Mary Idema Pew Library: Photos from GVSU's Magical Past, Classic Louie Selfies, and Spellbinding Tech in the Showcase
11:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons
Stroll through the Mary Idema Pew Library lobby and view historic photographs showcasing “Laker magic” from the University Archives collection. Take a selfie with a classic Louie the Laker cut-out. View a short film of a GVSU faculty member hypnotizing a student several decades ago. Visit the Technology Showcase to interact and experience spellbinding new and emerging technology, including: Microsoft HoloLens, Oculus Rift, Google Glass, 3D Printing, Leap Motion, and more. The first 50 visitors to the Showcase will receive a 3-D printed anchor. 

GVSU Rowing Alumni vs. Freshman Race
11:00 a.m., GVSU Boathouse
The annual GVSU Rowing Alumni vs. Freshman race will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the GVSU Boathouse. If you plan to row in the alumni boats, please be sure to RSVP (link to RSVP for the event will be posted soon). Boats will launch by 11:30 a.m. with racing beginning around 11:45 a.m. The format this year will be one 500 meter race. Please park in the lot at the bottom of the hill. There will be a shuttle taking people back and forth from the parking lot to the boathouse. The walk from the parking lot to the boathouse is 0.35 miles. Following the festivities at the boathouse, join the Grand Valley Rowing Alumni Association in Parking Lot C to tailgate from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. before the Homecoming football game.

Alumni Family-Friendly Tailgate & Beer Garden
1:00-4:00 p.m., Outdoor Basketball Courts
Meet up with fellow Lakers and enjoy a casual, family-friendly tailgate that includes a tailgate meal, DJ, Beer Garden, children's activities, words from President Tom Haas, and a performance from the Grand Valley Marching Band, Cheer Team, and Dance Team. Children's activities are led by the Children's Enrichment Center and include a magician, bounce house, coloring books, carnival games, and more. Meal tickets cost $10 for adults and children 13 and older, $5 for children 4-12, and free for children under the age of 3. Alcoholic beverages are an additional fee. Coolers are permitted. Glass bottles are not allowed. Register online.
