Kathy is the Chief Investment Officer at the Van Andel Institute, responsible for the investment management of the Institute’s Endowment. Kathleen came to VAI in June of 2005 from Fifth Third Bank, where she was Vice-President/Senior Portfolio Manager in the Wealth Management Group. Prior to joining Fifth Third Bank, Kathleen held the position of Chief Investment Officer for JVA Enterprises, the family office of Jay and Betty Van Andel, where she was responsible for the management of the investment portfolios of Jay and Betty Van Andel and their Foundation.   In this capacity, Kathleen managed the in-house fixed income portfolios, and directed the equity and alternative investments with third party managers. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute.   

 

Kathleen’s community activities include; President, Seidman College of Business Alumni Association; Board Member, Economic Club of Grand Rapids; Investment Committee, Pine Rest Christian Mental Hospital Board Designated Funds; Former President, CFA Society of Western Michigan; Founding Member, Circle of Red, American Heart Association; Leadership Team, Social Venture Investors through the Grand Rapids Community Foundation; Board Member, West Michigan Youth Ballet Company.
