Why did you choose to attend Grand Valley?
I knew it had a journalism program. I absolutely knew what I wanted to do and I thought it was a good place to start.

What was the highlight of your Grand Valley experience?
I started filming and editing and doing reporting packages and internships in my first year. I thought that was really neat to get a lot of good experience in, but at the same time it was still a fun college experience. It was the best of both worlds.

How have you benefited from Grand Valley's liberal education foundation?
One of the biggest things that helped me, and I didn't realize it until I started working, were a lot of the cultural classes that I took.

How has Grand Valley helped you achieve your goals?
I worked for the newspaper at Grand Valley and at WGVU, but also at other newspapers and radio stations. I'd learn out in the field first and then come back to the classroom and be able to take it to another level. That was really great.

What advice would you give to prospective students?
The biggest thing is just be passionate about whatever you are about. There's going to be a place for you there. There's going to be a way that you're going to grow and do things you had no idea you could do.
