Although Dali returned to his Roman Catholic roots and became more devout after World War II, his interest in the State of Israel is shown his execution of two series of prints for Israel's 20th and 25th anniversaries (a series called "Aliyah, the Rebirth of Israel"). This latter series, "The Twelve Tribes of Israel," represents the Biblical descriptions of the tribes combined with Dali's unique surrealism and politics in light of this series of prints. We shall also look at the Biblical sources for the images.
